Dog Adoption Bottle Cap Set

I've posted my first set of dog adoption themed bottle caps on my etsy site:

I'm excited about finally having these on etsy.  Making a sale would be great, of course, but more than anything I hope they generate a lot of new or renewed interest in pet adoption.  There are so many wonderful animals desperately in need of a loving home...if only I could adopt them all!  But for now, two rambunctious shelter dogs are all we can handle :)

Save a Life...Adopt a Pet

I'll soon be posting some bottle cap items (necklaces, pins, key rings, magnets, etc.) with a pet adoption theme on my etsy site... .http://www.etsy.com/shop/LittleOrangeBlossom?ref=si_shop.  As pet adoption is very near and dear to my heart, I thought I'd share with you the inspiration behind this particular bottle cap theme.  Please support animal adoption...before buying a dog or cat from a breeder or pet store, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE consider visiting an animal shelter or rescue group first!

Meet Jamie Boy
Jamie Boy is a flat-coated retriever mix.  I discovered him in the local animal shelter when he was a year old.  He was the only dog in the shelter that didn't bark when I walked in, and his puppy antics of tipping over his water bucket and dragging it around the enclosure instantly stole my heart.  As I found out later, I adopted him in the nick of time.  With the overcrowding of so many shelters throughout the country, euthanasia is an unfortunate outcome for many of these beautiful animals.  I adopted Jamie Boy the day before he was scheduled to meet such a fate.  While he has certainly been a handful in the six years he's been with us, we couldn't imagine life without him in our family.  He is one of the most gentle and loving dogs I've ever had, and he wants nothing more in life than to be petted all day long!
Jamie Boy's Likes:  being petted, hugged, and going on car rides
Jamie Boy's Dislikes:  being woken up (but hey, aren't we all just a little grumpy when we've been woken out of such peaceful dreams!)

Meet Abby
Abby is a German Shepherd/Lab mix.  We adopted this beautiful girl when she was 6 months old.  Expecting our first child, my husband and I decided Jamie Boy might benefit from a companion to avoid any jealousy issues that might arise from a new baby being in the house.  So we headed down to the local shelter, and when we saw her it was love at first sight.  Shivering with fear from the noise and commotion of the kennel, she climbed into my husband's lap and buried her head under his arm and stayed there.  We filled out an adoption form right then and there, and she's been part of our family ever since.  She is my daughter's best friend and partner-in-crime, and is an all-around amazing dog.  I'll never understand how such a beautiful and gentle creature ended up on the long list of unwanted pets, but we're so glad she's part of our family now!
Abby's Likes:  chasing cats, playing with her dog brother Jamie Boy, going on long walks and car rides
Abby's Dislikes: when cats wander into her yard
